Built from 1890 onwards to drawing 790, these high sided goods wagons were intended principally for coal traffic. They were however used for all manner of traffic as the need arose and often appear in yard photographs. Some 9000 were built to 7 lots between 1890 and 1900. They were a surprisingly long lived wagon lasting in traffic into the mid fifties. Over the years modifications occurred with the introduction of either side brakes and oil axleboxes.
