The LYR twin wagon may be traced back to 1882 when a new wagon combining the features of the double bolster and the single timber wagon were produced. An initial batch of 40, 20 pairs, were produced followed by 24 pairs in the 1890's. The first first batch had grease axle boxes and the sledge brake and were paired with a cross brace beneath their curved ends. The second batch had swivelling bolsters but no other detail information is available. In all probability they included the standard wagon grease axle boxes and buffers of the period. A further batch of 40 pairs were authorised towards the end of the Great War. These wagons had minor differences including the strengthening of the underframe and the use of B3 oil axleboxes. It is likely that many of these wagons built after 1921 would in fact have been built with B4 oil axle boxes. This wagon was long lived and examples survived until the mid 1950's.

Our model is based on the later build with strengthened side sheeting and solebars with the later B4 oil axle boxes. Earlier versions were very similar externally and can be represented using either grease or B3 axleboxes. Made from white metal our model has separate sides, solebars including
springs, ends and floor. The model includes eched brass w-irons, brake
levers and V's complete with white metal grease or oil axle boxes, metal
buffers with steel heads and brake shoes. Investment castings are provided
for the bolster detailing parts. A fully detailed instruction sheet is
included giving detailed lettering and painting information. To download
