London and North Western Railway to 1923
Wagon body and iron work dark chocolate, roofs white when new quickly degenerating
to a grey colour, iron work beneath the solebar black. Lining in yellow chrome.
London Midland and Scottish 1923 to 1948
Non passenger coaching stock was painted in the standard crimson lake livery
and until 1934 fully lined out. It is not possible to generalise on the lining
adopted as this depended on the vehicle construction. From 1934 lining was discontinued.
Roofs were grey.
British Railways from 1948
Painted in BR standard Maroon.
